Job Summary:

This position is responsible for managing the entire tax compliance and accounting function for a healthcare organization, including conducting thorough tax research and planning. The role demands staying informed about tax law changes and identifying potential tax issues and opportunities to optimize the company’s tax strategy.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and ensure timely government-mandated tax filings for the company and its subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation to support tax filings, including necessary forms and attachments using specialized software.
  • Oversee tax provisions (GAAP & STAT) and ensure their timely completion with adequate support documentation.
  • Conduct tax research and planning to assess and communicate the tax implications of various business decisions.
  • Lead the preparation of tax forecasts, including maintaining supporting documentation for these forecasts.
  • Manage relationships with federal and state/local tax authorities, including leading responses to tax examinations.
  • Collaborate with Tax Management to address business and tax issues and assist in periodic meetings with subsidiaries.
  • Provide direction, training, and guidance to other Tax Staff.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and advise on the impact of these changes on the organization.


Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting(or 6 years of related experience as a substitute).

Preferred: Master’s degree in business administration or taxation.


Experience:

  • At least 7 years of experience in tax accounting, compliance, and planning, including project leadership in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm.
  • Auditing or accounting experience, familiarity with insurance taxation, and knowledge of both federal and state/local taxes.


Skills and Certifications:

  • CPA or licensed attorney.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work effectively under pressure. Strategic thinker with innovative problem-solving skills.


Work Environment:

This role is primarily office-based with some flexibility for remote work (3 days in office, 2 days remote). Occasional travel between office locations may be required.
