Overall Purpose

The Sr. Data governance analyst builds and implements critical aspects of operations for data governance policies and vision. This role sits within the Data Quality Product Team in the CDO office.

Essential Functions

  1. Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of data governance frameworks and policies that align with the company's data strategy and objectives.
  2. Establishes data quality standards and metrics, and monitors compliance with these standards.
  3. Enforces data governance policies, procedures, and standards ensuring consistent data management practices across the company.
  4. Provides guidance and support on data governance best practices, data management processes, and data quality improvement to other teams.
  5. Builds strong partnerships with business and technology stakeholders, works with internal stakeholders to complete various data projects; ensuring data quality standards are achieved, including Risk, Customer Success, Operations, Engineering and Compliance to provide support for the Data Governance standards.
  6. Creates and maintains data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data classification systems to ensure accurate and consistent data definitions.
  7. Conducts data assessments and audits to identify data quality issues, data ownership, and data lineage, and develop strategies to resolve them.
  8. Designs and implements data governance awareness and training programs.
  9. Engages with data stewards to enhance our enterprise data catalog and driving its adoption in the company.
  10. Conducts data impact assessment for new projects and changes to existing data systems.
  11. Stays current with industry best practices and emerging trends in data governance.
  12. Collaborates with the key stakeholders and leadership.
  13. Supports the company’s commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or other technical discipline.
  2. 5+ years of proven experience working as a Data Governance Analyst or in a similar role with data management or data quality.
  3. Possesses an understanding of how master data management is used across multiple applications.
  4. Working knowledge and experience with implementing change standards to move an organization forward in a Data Governance model.
  5. Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, principles, and best practices.
  6. In-depth understanding of data management concepts, including data quality, data stewardship, data classification, and metadata management.
  7. Experience with data governance tools and technologies.
  8. Proficiency in data analysis, data profiling, and data quality assessment.
  9. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to data governance and data privacy.
  10. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data-related issues and propose effective solutions.
  11. Strong communication skills and ability to efficiently communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  12. Background and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification, Certified Data Professional (CDP) certification, Data Governance Stewardship Professional (DGSP) certification, and/or Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP) certification.
  2. Knowledge of RDBS, SQL and Splunk.
  3. Prior experience working in payments, financial services, or similar regulated industry.
  4. Experience with ETL processes to populate the operational data stores, data warehouse and data marts as needed.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
