Job Description
Are you passionate about designing the charging networks that will power the next of electric vehicles? Do you have the technical expertise to create resilient and efficient EV infrastructure that supports a sustainable, electrified future? If you’re excited about driving the development of charging systems that make electric vehicles more accessible, our client has the perfect role for you. We’re looking for an EV Infrastructure Engineer (aka The Charge Architect) to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of EV charging networks that serve communities, cities, and highways.
As an EV Infrastructure Engineer at our client, you’ll work with urban planners, electrical engineers, and sustainability experts to build charging solutions that are reliable, user-friendly, and sustainable. Whether it’s developing fast-charging hubs for urban centers or creating EV charging corridors along highways, your work will play a vital role in advancing electric mobility and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Implement EV Charging Stations: Lead the design, placement, and installation of EV charging stations, including Level 2 and DC fast-charging systems. You’ll tailor infrastructure plans to meet regional demands, site constraints, and grid capacity while ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Integrate EV Infrastructure with the Power Grid: Work on projects that integrate EV charging systems with the power grid, addressing challenges like load balancing, peak demand, and energy storage. You’ll collaborate with utilities to ensure charging stations support grid stability and renewable energy integration.
- Conduct Site Assessments and Feasibility Studies: Perform site assessments to evaluate optimal locations for EV charging infrastructure, considering factors like accessibility, energy demand, and environmental impact. You’ll conduct feasibility studies that inform project planning and deployment.
- Develop Smart Charging Solutions and Demand Management: Design and implement smart charging solutions that manage charging times and loads efficiently, optimizing for both user convenience and grid stability. You’ll explore vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and load management technologies to enhance infrastructure resilience.
- Ensure Compliance with Safety and Regulatory Standards: Ensure that all charging stations comply with safety protocols, regulatory standards, and industry certifications (e.g., NEC, UL). You’ll oversee testing and quality control to maintain safe and reliable charging operations.
- Collaborate on EV Infrastructure Expansion Plans: Work with urban planners, municipalities, and private sector partners to expand charging networks and support EV adoption. You’ll contribute to strategic infrastructure expansion that aligns with urban development and sustainability goals.
- Stay Informed on Emerging EV Technologies and Trends: Keep up with advancements in EV charging technology, such as wireless charging, ultra-fast charging, and smart grid integration. You’ll continuously explore innovations to keep charging networks efficient and forward-looking.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- EV Charging Infrastructure Expertise: Strong experience in designing and implementing EV charging stations, including knowledge of Level 2 and DC fast-charging systems. You understand the technical and logistical challenges of EV infrastructure development.
- Electrical and Grid Integration Knowledge: Expertise in power systems, load management, and grid integration for EV charging infrastructure. You’re skilled in working with utilities to address grid stability and renewable energy integration.
- Project Management and Site Assessment: Proficiency in conducting site assessments, feasibility studies, and project planning for EV infrastructure deployment. You can navigate permitting processes and evaluate project viability based on site and regional characteristics.
- Smart Charging and Demand Management: Knowledge of smart charging, vehicle-to-grid (V2G), and load management technologies. You understand how to optimize charging schedules and manage demand to benefit both users and the grid.
- Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry certifications for EV infrastructure. You’re experienced in implementing protocols that ensure charging systems are safe, reliable, and compliant.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience in EV infrastructure design or power systems engineering is highly valued.
- Certifications in EV infrastructure, power systems, or grid integration are a plus.
Experience Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in EV infrastructure engineering or a similar role, with hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining EV charging systems.
- Experience working with utilities, grid operators, or smart grid technologies is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, permitting, and industry standards for EV infrastructure.
Benefits
- Health and Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans with low co-pays and premiums.
- Paid Time Off: Competitive vacation, sick leave, and 20 paid holidays per year.
- Work-Life Balance: Flexible work schedules and telecommuting options.
- Professional Development: Opportunities for training, certification reimbursement, and career advancement programs.
- Wellness Programs: Access to wellness programs, including gym memberships, health screenings, and mental health resources.
- Life and Insurance: Life insurance and short-term/long-term coverage.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential counseling and support services for personal and professional challenges.
- Tuition Reimbursement: Financial assistance for continuing education and professional development.
