Job Summary
Ethox Chemicals is looking for a Junior Buyer to join our Purchasing and Planning Department. This position is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with 1-3 years of experience who is eager to grow, learn, and build a long-term career with a company where they can envision a future well into retirement.
The Junior Buyer is responsible for supporting the procurement process by assisting with the sourcing and purchasing of raw materials and supplies for our chemical manufacturing operations. The Junior Buyer will maintain supplier relationships, manage inventory levels, and work to ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules. The Junior Buyer will work closely with members of the Purchasing and Sales departments to develop and implement strategies to streamline the procurement process and address any supply chain issues that may arise.
Responsibilities
- Lead the raw material sourcing strategy for a portfolio of chemical raw materials, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market conditions.
- Oversee and manage the material sourcing process by collaborating with strategic suppliers and tolling partners, negotiating commercial terms, and managing master supply and tolling agreements.
- Evaluate supplier performance, maintain relationships, and address any supply issues to ensure reliable and consistent material availability.
- Collaborate on bids and pricing by working with the Purchasing and Sales teams to negotiate and secure competitive supplier bids and pricing.
- Maintain and update the unit cost pricing database to reflect accurate and current pricing information.
- Monitor and manage expedite and lead time logs to ensure timely release of materials for project requirements.
- Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
- Perform cost reduction analysis to identify potential opportunities for cost reduction and assess the impact of pricing changes on goods and services
- Track and enforce adherence to the warehouse-to-plant schedule, addressing and resolving any shortage issues.
- Regularly audit the ERP system to ensure data accuracy and proper inventory management.
- Generate vendor purchase orders (POs) and assist with PO approvals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in purchasing, pricing, or supply chain role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and aptitude to learn new software programs
- Prior knowledge of ERP software, preferably Datacor (formerly Chempax)
- Working knowledge of inventory management processes, planning network across transportation, distribution, and CRM
- Ability to successfully interface with customers, associates, and the community.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow complex requests, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Regular and reliable attendance. Required to be on-site.
Physical Requirements: Physical ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer performing repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 30 pounds.
