Douglas, United States Open Sky Community Services Full time
Salary USD $35.00/Hr. Description and Responsibilities

Are you a Registered Nurse looking for an environment that is not an office or hospital setting? Are you looking for the ability to make connections with your patients and work within an innovative and person-centered domain? Workdays can be a challenge at times, however, with a pace slower than a hospital setting and the ability to work with people on a long-term basis, Open Sky nurses are provided a unique opportunity for those who are looking for a clinically based, supportive and nurturing role.

This unique position is shared between Open Sky's Residential Recovery Program (OASIS) and our Residential Youth Group Programs (Futures and Ives). The Oasis program partners with Harrington Hospital to provide 6-12 months of residential recovery services to 16 adults who have both mental health and substance use disorders. Oasis is not a typical group home environment – our model is to support all paths to wellness and recovery including yoga, meditation, smart recovery, therapy animals, 12-step programs, and more. Our Youth Group Care homes provide comprehensive treatment in a group care setting for youth (males and females) who have a history of psychiatric hospitalizations. The goal of the program is to work collaboratively with the youth and family to enhance personal, social, and independent living to prepare for family reunification or a transition to independent living. The program utilizes a Wraparound Philosophy which helps family, support members, and service providers work together to support the family and youth.

Open Sky Nurses are the cornerstone of our treatment teams They provide guidance, medical oversight and individualized consultation to employees who support some of the most vulnerable members of the Commonwealth. This position is shared between three residential programs located in Worcester, Douglas, and Northborough. Travel between these programs is required.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and consultation to programs regarding medical issues, procedures and techniques, and health and wellness practices.
  • Assess and provide individualized education related to person’s health and disease processes; reinforce wellness and preventative health measures.
  • Review clinical records on a regular basis to ensure adequate services and supports are provided, including any applicable medical interventions, tests, or preventative care as necessary.
