The Energetics and Propulsion Department is an engineering organization in the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Directorate. This Department is responsible for the full spectrum of warhead, fuzing, and propulsion designs/technology, including power systems, ignition, and all other weapon initiation safety systems technology. The department is seeking to hire a Senior Principal Engineer - Fuzing.
This position is located in Tucson, Arizona.
What You Will Do- Develop highly advanced technologies, and concepts to the systems integration of fuzing devices, controllers, software, mechanical and electrical interfaces for integration into missile systems and space vehicles.
- Involvement with both development and production programs across Raytheon product lines.
- Review manufacturing processes and problem resolution as well as working directly with subcontractors on the design and manufacturing of fuzing devices.
- Work in a collaborative environment with program management in long-range program planning.
- Manage fuzing device development projects and propulsion subcontracts. Provide frontline lead activities and mentor engineers who develop fuzing devices.
- The position is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with their hiring manager and Department Lead to set schedule.
- Education: Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in fuzing / one shots / engineering technology and/or engineering design.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Education: MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree.
- Twelve or more years of directly related experience in fuzing devices and their applications.
- Systems knowledge to assure full development of fuzing device requirements and dissemination and flow down to subcomponent levels.
- Ability to perform fuzing trade studies evaluating different electrical designs and estimate design and production cost and schedule.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead collaborative efforts with other technical disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and systems.
- Advocate for process improvement (e.g., CMMI, R6s, etc.), team builder, and ability to build strong relationships and effectively partner with internal and external resources.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
