  • Law Clerk (for individuals with no family law experience); Temporary Position (approximately 1-3 months with the possibility of direct promotion to an Associate Attorney)
  • Associate Attorney (for individuals with at least 3 months of family law experience or related experience) 

Reports to: Attorney and Founder Theresa E. Viera

Position Type: Full-Time

*This position is for anyone practicing family law for 5 years or less.


Compensation: 

  • Law Clerk: Salaried
  • Associate Attorney: Salary + Quarterly Compensation
  • *Optional Annual Bonus (not guaranteed and based on performance)

  • Charlotte - SouthPark office location
  • Asheville (Expanding in 2025/2026)

Job Summary:

Our respected and growing family law firm is seeking a dedicated Law Clerk/Associate Attorney with a passion for helping clients navigate complex family law matters. You will work closely with clients, legal assistants, and senior attorneys to manage a diverse caseload, including divorce, child custody, equitable distribution, spousal support, and other domestic law matters.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Initial Responsibilities - Observations of  negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings.
  • Legal Representation/Client Care - Conduct negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings. Ensure proper communication and conveyance of legal advice to clients. Case management from consultation to final resolution of client matters.
  • Business Development - Drafting blogs, maintaining an online presence, and in-person networking events.
  • Keeping track of billable time entries and assisting on collections.
  • Attendance at regular firm meetings and development programs and trainings.

Qualifications:

  • Organized, motivated, and a self-starter.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to comprehend and implement firm procedures and policies. 
  • Positive and growth-mindset attitude. 
  • Team player. 
  • Speaks Spanish and English fluently. 
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited Law School
  • Admission to, Licensed and in Good Standing with the North Carolina State Bar (Exception: Planning to sit for the North Carolina State Bar in 2025)
