The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. Duties include improving existing equipment performance, researching automation techniques, and testing new systems for efficiency.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will work with the production and maintenance teams to eliminate waste in the manufacturing process and solve equipment and process flow problems. Your role is to set criteria for equipment uptime and preventative maintenance schedules, then consistently measure performance and evaluate success.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer shall identify delays in production and sources of waste, then use technology and engineering principles to refine the system. This position will recommend adjustments to production practices and integrate new technology to improve the supply and production chain. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will also review, recommend and create proposals for new equipment purchase that could aid in improving overall efficiency while providing cost justifying analysis when applicable. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer shall provide training to the production and maintenance teams on how to properly utilize existing equipment and incorporate new technology and methods into current production standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop and implement manufacturing strategies and processes to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.

2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, facilities management, preventative maintenance, and production personnel, to ensure smooth production operations and timely delivery of products.

3. Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and equipment, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and productivity.

4. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve production issues and minimize downtime.

5. Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow charts, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

6. Train and mentor maintenance and production team, providing guidance and support in their professional development.

7. Stay updated with the latest advancements in manufacturing technology, processes, and industry best practices, and implement relevant changes to improve manufacturing processes.

8. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the availability of quality materials and components, and resolve any equipment related issues that may affect production.

9. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in manufacturing processes.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment specifications, including electrical and mechanical solutions to solve existing problems
  • Proficient in using manufacturing software and tools, such as CAD/CAM software, statistical analysis software, and simulation tools.
  • Experience implementing process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex manufacturing issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects to meet objectives and timelines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to manufacturing processes.
  • Source new equipment when and where needed while providing for competitive quotes and cost justification needed for capital expense analysis.

JOB REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

B. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in a senior or leadership position.

C. Proven track record of implementing process improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence.

D. Strong knowledge of manufacturing principles, practices, and standards.

E. Experience in the food industry is a plus

F. Certification in Lean Six Sigma is preferred

G. Food Industry experience is a huge plus

H. Candidate must be bi-lingual (Spanish / English)
