Description:

The Human Resource Information System (HRIS) Analyst will support and maintain the organizations HRIS applications and modules. The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) is in need of an HRIS Analyst to perform support, configuration, and large volume data entry tasks in DOCTime (Time, Attendance, and Leave Management) and Cardinal Human Capital Management (HCM). The individual will perform back-end data and configuration work (much of which is very manual-touching individual employee time & system records), but will also be responsible for managing mailboxes with customer requests/inquires for systems access and other inquiries.

Work Arrangement:

Selected candidate would need to be able to report to the office as needed (meetings, etc.). They would have a great degree of flexibility in teleworking, unless performance concerns were identified that needed to be more actively supervised.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Supports the HRIS Unit, which may include large volume of data entry in both the Time and Attendance System (DOCTime) and Human Capital Management system (Cardinal).

Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HR system users.

Manages permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for HR system users.

Managing mailboxes with customer requests/inquires for access and other needs.

Audits and updates HRIS data fields as necessary.

Programs custom functions and documentation such as automated queries, filters, and reports.

Compiles or assists with the acquisition of complex data reports, summaries, and logs for senior executives and HR staff.

Ensures system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.

Collaborates with HR staff and vendor to identify system improvements and enhancements; recommends and implements solutions.

Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in HRIS providers, vendors, and technology.

Performs other duties as required.

Familiarity with human resource policies and procedures to ensure the HRIS meets organizational needs and goals.

Ability to keep information confidential.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with strong Excel skills.

Thorough understanding of all areas of information systems with a highly technical understanding of at least one commercial HRIS product.

Education and Experience:

At least two years related experience required.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, human resource management, or related field preferred.

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.

Ability to work with, update, and maintain HRIS databases

Understanding of information systems with a highly technical understanding of at least one commercial HRIS product

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal and technical support skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to keep information confidential.
