ABOUT THE POSITION
Position Summary
As an experienced Corporate Attorney at Jimerson Birr, you would have an opportunity to gain substantial hands-on experience in sophisticated commercial matters with the firm’s top-tier clientele.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and analyze the law on complex issues and writing briefs for submission to a supervising lawyer; Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and businesses.
- Analyze and summarize complicated legal documents, including contracts, and suggest alterations to those documents
- Negotiate with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes, including settlement conferences
- Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the law firm or for a client, and develop strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk
- Perform due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, and mergers and acquisitions
- Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations
- Prepare and draft legal documents, such as contracts, leases, deeds, patent applications, and mortgages
- Confer with colleagues with specialties in appropriate areas of legal issue to establish and verify bases for legal proceedings
Qualification/Requirements
- Law School graduate
- Attorneys must be admitted to the Florida Bar
- Attorneys must comply with continuing education requirements as set forth by the Florida Bar
- 5+ years' experience as an attorney
- Advanced reading, writing, and speaking skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, handle cases autonomously and produce exemplary work products
- Strong judgement, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize daily work, and meet all deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
