We are a well-funded startup introducing the next evolutionary step in wearables, unlocking unprecedented new capabilities. We play at the intersection of hardware and software, human and machine learning, and consumer and medical to create new-to-the-world capabilities and experiences. We are a tight-knit team of serial entrepreneurs and ex-Bose engineers - our CEO’s last startup was acquired by Bose, leading to the worldwide launch of Bose sleepbuds. We focus on achieving results through creativity, passion, team building and plain old hard work. We are nice people, like and respect each other, and love our pastry Fridays. Our first mission is to apply our cutting edge wearable to improve the lives of people suffering from Dysautonomia (e.g. POTS, Orthostatic Hypotension, ME/CFS, Long COVID).
We are looking for people who are passionate about helping deeply underserved patient populations live their best lives. More specifically, we are looking for a Fullstack Developer who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic startup team environment, with excellent opportunities for growth and spectacular accomplishment. You work well individually and collaboratively, and care deeply about the mission as well as the people on the team. You thrive where chaos meets structure and lead by doing.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Fullstack Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate must be proficient in Python and JavaScript, with extensive experience integrating with AWS resources (Lambda, ECS, Cognito, S3, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SQS), and working with database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL. A deep understanding of object-oriented design patterns (such as Singleton, Factory, Observer, Decorator, and Strategy) is essential. The candidate should also have experience managing the process and infrastructure for shipping features in a production environment, including building test infrastructure, monitoring infrastructure (e.g., New Relic), and deployment infrastructure (staged rollouts, rollbacks). Experience with IoT devices, networking protocols like MQTT, and integration with third-party software such as Stripe, ShipStation, and LaunchDarkly is a plus.
Fullstack Application Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality applications using Python and JavaScript.
- Ensure the performance, scalability, and responsiveness of applications.
- Implement and adhere to object-oriented design patterns such as Singleton, Factory, Observer, Decorator, and Strategy for maintainable and efficient codebases.
AWS Integration:
- Integrate with AWS resources including Lambda, ECS, Cognito, S3, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and SQS.
- Implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
Database Management:
- Design and manage robust relational and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and optimal performance.
API Integration:
- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs for seamless communication between applications and backend services.
Feature Shipping & Production Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end process of shipping new features in a production environment.
- Build and manage test infrastructure to ensure code quality.
- Develop and maintain monitoring infrastructure for production environments using tools such as New Relic.
- Manage deployment infrastructure, including staged rollouts, rollbacks, and automation tools.
Collaboration & Leadership:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality.
IoT & Third-Party Integrations (Nice to Have):
- Develop and integrate IoT device functionality.
- Work with networking protocols such as MQTT.
- Integrate with third-party software stacks like Stripe, ShipStation, and LaunchDarkly.
- Passion for learning new technologies and staying updated with industry trends.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and performance.
- Opportunity to pour your life’s energy into some of the most impactful work of your life, serving a deeply underserved community with novel cutting-edge technology.
- Opportunity to sharpen your skills in collaborative mobile app development in the context of a fast-paced startup environment. You will play a significant role as well in defining/implementing the cloud back-end infrastructure. Opportunity to take meaningful ownership, make an outsized impact, and help shape the team/culture as we rapidly grow. Opportunity to recruit and manage others including external contractors, internal hires, and coops.
- Opportunity to acquire a material equity stake with significant upside potential. Founders have a proven track record, so equity matters here. While we intentionally encourage everyone on the team to have “skin in the game” and take less upfront in the form of tax-inefficient salaries, we provide employees the ability to dial in their salary/equity tradeoff to arrive at a compensation package that matches their personal risk-reward appetite. We are looking for A-players who are energized by joining a team of other A-players and having compensation tied to their collective outperformance. Depending on the level of experience and how much equity you elect for, the total compensation package ranges from $100k-$160k.
- We cherish our weekly Pastry Fridays, and make it a point to enjoy the ride alongside each other throughout the journey.
- Open to sponsoring H1B
- Health Insurance and 401k
If you are a highly motivated and experienced mobile app developer with a passion for technology, innovation, and making an impact for underserved populations, we encourage you to apply and join our team.
