Interconnection Coordinator | DG Solar | Northeast

Position:
The Interconnection Coordinator will assist in overseeing the generation interconnection process for distribution and small utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. This role involves coordinating with utility companies, project managers, and internal teams to ensure successful grid integration and that interconnection timelines are met.
Responsibilities:
Manage the full generation interconnection process, including:
- Pre-application feasibility analysis,
- Interconnection application preparation, submission, and tracking,
- Interconnection study, agreement process, and construction milestone management,
- Coordination of approvals, signatures, and payments for interconnection applications, impact studies, and agreements,
- Track and manage utility performance against tariff-related timelines and project-specific deadlines, ensuring milestones are achieved,
- Lead regular utility status meetings to align project progress, resolve issues, and discuss upcoming deadlines,
- Coordinate interconnection activities, including managing utility RFIs and directing internal teams to respond within target timelines,
- Liaise with utility representatives to resolve interconnection issues and ensure all communications are clear and timely,
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting, including all records for interconnection applications, timelines, and agreements,
- Provide technical support for project acquisition activities and collaborate with internal teams (Land Acquisition, Engineering, Permitting, EPC, and Operations) to develop a strong project pipeline,
- Prospect and analyze optimal points of interconnection using market research and technical analyses,
- Develop and track cost estimates for interconnection-related expenses,
- Analyze utility tariffs and interconnection requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Experience required:
- 1-3 years of experience in solar energy or utility industries (internships considered),
- Knowledge of utility interconnection processes and renewable energy systems,
- Strong project management and reporting skills, with experience using Salesforce, Smartsheet, and/or Microsoft Project,
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, working efficiently across teams and with external stakeholders,
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills,
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., IEEE 1547, UL 1741),
- Experience with CAD software and electrical single-line diagrams,
- NABCEP certification or willingness to pursue certification.
