Senior RWD Statistical Programmer

The Senior RWD Statistical Programmer, an adept programmer proficient in R, SAS, Python and SQL, will oversee programming, management, and analysis of various types of studies including commercial administrative databases, registry cohorts, and EHR/EMR databases. Responsibilities include executing multiple data processing tasks such as cleaning, extracting, and merging using SAS/SQL/R/Python programming languages. Additionally, the role involves applying statistical methods to analyze study data, with some understanding of interpreting results. Additional responsibilities include managing and maintaining large real-world databases, extracting specific patient cohorts based on eligibility criteria, and defining exposures, treatments, and outcomes/endpoints.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Manage and execute analysis for observational studies.
- Acquire proficiency in applying diverse statistical techniques for observational research.
- Exhibit familiarity with US and European Real-World (RW) databases including healthcare claims, charge data master, Medicare, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Review statistical analysis plans and create statistical outputs
- Support external communication efforts through conference presentations (abstracts, posters) and publications.
- Coordinate multiple projects effectively to adhere to established timelines.
- Adhere to good clinical study practices
- Stay up to date on subject matters and emerging statistical methodologies.
- Contribute insights and participate in the advancement of the SAS/SQL/R/Python programming environment.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree (e.g. MA, MSc, MPH) in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Services Researcher, Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy, or related discipline, such as Outcomes Research from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 6 years of programming experience in SAS/SQL/R/Python, with at least 3-5 years spent in the pharmaceutical sector.
- Demonstrated proficiency and advanced capabilities in programming and analysis using SAS/SQL/R/Python, encompassing:
- Data processing, extraction, and cleansing utilizing SAS, SQL, R, or Python
- Proficiency in SAS Macro language
- Application of statistical techniques to health-related clinical and economic data
- Generation of meaningful and easily understandable deliverables, such as descriptive data summaries, statistical tests, graphical representations, etc.
- Ability to appreciate, understand, and interpret results effectively
- Experience with Jupyter Notebook, Snowflake and AWS ideally
- Exhibited experience in conducting observational research, including expertise in study design, and understanding strengths and limitations.
- Proven aptitude in project management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
