Job Summary
Provide internal surveying service to ensure construction work complies with design drawing locations.
Job Duties
  • Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts (Ex: forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hanger and supports, etc.).
  • Managing survey teams.
  • Provide checking of “as built” conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
  • Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
  • Provide quantity calculations as required.
  • Providing guidance to field staff.
  • Building maps and sketches
  • Prepare documentation of surveying activities (field books) “as built” drawings and submit for approval upon completion.
  • Maintain condition and adjustment of surveying equipment.
  • Coordinate surveying activities with the assigned project manager to meet the construction requirements.
  • Accuracy verification of plan drawings.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to use all the surveying equipment and techniques essential.
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints and calculate shapes (geometric, etc.).
Qualifications/Skills
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of experience as a heavy civil survey manager on large, complex projects including all work disciplines.
  • Proficiency with Trimble Business Center and Trimble Robotics.
  • Ability to manage multiple survey crews and projects.
Work Environment:
  • Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop
  • Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site:
    • Uneven ground level
    • Obstructed pathways
    • Work performed at low and/or high elevations
    • Work performed in confined areas
  • Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site:
    • Predominately outdoor climate
    • May be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather

    • Various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.
    • Potential exposure to chemical substances
