Job Summary
Provide internal surveying service to ensure construction work complies with design drawing locations.
Job Duties
- Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts (Ex: forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hanger and supports, etc.).
- Managing survey teams.
- Provide checking of “as built” conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
- Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
- Provide quantity calculations as required.
- Providing guidance to field staff.
- Building maps and sketches
- Prepare documentation of surveying activities (field books) “as built” drawings and submit for approval upon completion.
- Maintain condition and adjustment of surveying equipment.
- Coordinate surveying activities with the assigned project manager to meet the construction requirements.
- Accuracy verification of plan drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to use all the surveying equipment and techniques essential.
- Ability to accurately read blueprints and calculate shapes (geometric, etc.).
- Four (4) to six (6) years of experience as a heavy civil survey manager on large, complex projects including all work disciplines.
- Proficiency with Trimble Business Center and Trimble Robotics.
- Ability to manage multiple survey crews and projects.
- Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop
- Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site:
- Uneven ground level
- Obstructed pathways
- Work performed at low and/or high elevations
- Work performed in confined areas
- Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site:
- Predominately outdoor climate
- May be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather
- Excessive humidity, rain, etc.
- Various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.
- Potential exposure to chemical substances
