Environmental Specialist

Pay Rate: $34.00/hr

The ideal candidate for this position is a dedicated environmental professional with a strong foundation in natural sciences and a passion for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. This role will require a highly skilled individual with exceptional communication skills and the ability to analyze and interpret complex data. The ultimate goal of this position is to safeguard the power plant facility’s adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

• Conduct comprehensive field inspections of waste, water, and air systems to assess environmental compliance.

• Maintain and update environmental management systems and plans, including hazardous site identification, chemical inventories, and complaint investigations.

• Implement effective spill prevention programs and ensure compliance with hazardous waste regulations.

• Develop and recommend innovative solutions to mitigate pollution and eliminate environmental hazards.

• Collect samples of waste, soil, and water as needed for analysis and compliance verification.

• Serve as the primary liaison between the power plant and regulatory agencies for environmental compliance matters.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, such as a power plant technician, engineer, or environmental compliance specialist.

• In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, interpretations, and health and safety programs.

• Proven ability to solve problems quickly and effectively, with advanced conflict resolution skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

• Outstanding analytical abilities to evaluate data and identify potential environmental risks.

Note: This position requires 100% on-site work at both the River Rouge PP and St Clair PP. Work at these facilities will not be on the same day.
