We are currently seeking a Cloud Architect - AWS, Azure, GCP to join our team in Bethesda, Maryland (US-MD), United States (US).

NTT DATA is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Cloud Architect to oversee the architecture and implementation of all cloud support services for a federal scientific research agency. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud environment that meets the agency's evolving research needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cloud technologies, security best practices, and IT service management frameworks, with a proven track record of successfully leading cloud architecture initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the design and implementation of cloud solutions, including infrastructure, applications, and services, across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  2. Develop and maintain a comprehensive cloud architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment with agency requirements, industry best practices, and security standards.
  3. Define and enforce architectural standards and guidelines for cloud deployments.
  4. Oversee the migration of existing applications and workloads to the cloud, leveraging appropriate modernization strategies and tools.
  5. Ensure the security and compliance of cloud environments, adhering to relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST).
  6. Implement and manage security solutions, including identity and access management (IAM), network security, data encryption, and vulnerability management.
  7. Conduct security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
  8. Stay abreast of security threats and vulnerabilities in the cloud landscape.
  9. Oversee the day-to-day operations and management of cloud environments, ensuring availability, performance, and reliability.
  10. Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues.
  11. Develop and document operational procedures and best practices for cloud services.
  12. Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management strategies.
  13. Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of cloud engineers and architects.
  14. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practice adoption.
  15. Collaborate with other teams, including security, networking, and applications, to ensure seamless integration of cloud services.
  16. Identify opportunities to improve cloud architecture, security, and operational efficiency.
  17. Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and tools to enhance the agency's research capabilities.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  2. 15 years of experience in IT, with at least five years focused on cloud architecture and implementation.
  3. 7 years’ experience solutioning cloud technologies, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings.
  4. 5 years' experience with cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
  5. 5 years' experience supporting US Federal Government clients
  6. Professional cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect).
  7. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
  8. Must currently reside in the Washington, DC Area.

Preferred:

  1. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  2. Master's degree in a relevant field.
  3. Experience working in a scientific research or academic environment.
  4. Experience with Agile methodologies.
  5. Familiarity with federal government contracting and procurement processes.
