Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a System Engineer who will perform root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions and proactively prevent recurring issues. This opportunity is located in Houston, TX


Duties:

  • Provide technical support to the enterprise as needed, ensuring system stability and issue resolution
  • Collaborate with business units (e.g., application teams, DBAs, middleware) to configure platforms for product installations and ongoing support
  • Design and document enterprise standards and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Ensure platforms and systems align with established enterprise and industry standards for systems management, firewalls, security, and operating systems
  • Implement platform changes with minimal impact to business operations, adhering to enterprise standards and best practices
  • Monitor, manage, and optimize platform performance, ensuring availability and meeting performance benchmarks
  • Provide on-site and on-call support, primarily working within regular business hours, but available for emergencies
  • Configure, install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot hardware systems to ensure reliable and efficient operations


Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Technology or Business
  • 8+ years of work related experience
  • Extensive experience in Windows Server Administration, with a strong understanding of application development, particularly in deployment and hosting on web servers or Windows services
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server environments, including Windows 2016, 2012, and 2008
  • Expertise with the Microsoft technology stack, including .NET, IIS 7/8, MSSQL databases, and browser-based technologies
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat for managing Java-based web applications
  • Proficiency in managing file permissions, including Share Level and NTFS Level Permissions
  • Familiarity with DFS (Distributed File System) and SAN (Storage Area Network) technologies, especially with NetApp solutions
  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
  • Experience with load balancing and firewall configurations to ensure optimal performance and security
