Senior Counsel Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with land administration staff on correspondence with operators and external parties
  • Examine blanket and acquisition titles to identify editable issues or changes
  • Draft and review curative documents for various acquisitions
  • Assist with deed drafts and review, Purchase and Sale Agreements, and any other necessary documents
  • Speak with external vendors, brokers, and legal counsel in an effective manner
  • Support in-house attorneys and report to Senior Counsel/VP of Land for numerous projects related to the sector


Senior Counsel Job Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor
  • 3-4+ years of law firm or in-house experience
  • Experience with oil and gas title review, including blanket title, title acquisition, leasehold acquisition opinion drafting, deed drafting, and review and drafting of agreements and curative documents
  • Capability of running and reviewing title in multiple mediums from an operations and acquisitions perspective
  • Understanding of Texas Railroad Commission site and regulatory system with unit structures
  • Can calculate advanced working interest with overriding royalty interest on leaseholds
  • Comfortability reviewing work through various software and technology mediums
