Project Design and Integration Engineer

The Project Design and Integration Engineer will provide design and project management from inception to installation and startup, for ice production, conveying, and packaging operations. This work involves refrigeration and control systems and will be responsible for collaborating closely with customers, outside sales, and strategic vendors in managing multiple projects simultaneously. These projects can involve but are not limited to replacing obsolete equipment, plant expansions, and greenfield site development both across the US and internationally. The customers vary from those in need of small to very large-scale production of ice. The Project Design and Integration Engineer will play a critical role in managing on-site contractors during the installation and start-up project phases. This position requires technical expertise with effective communication and project management skills to drive successful engineering projects while maintaining positive relationships.


Duties/Responsibilities:


•Thoroughly assess customer needs and drawings to determine the requirements and feasibility of each project

•Create detailed project layouts and preliminary design proposals, integrating innovative solutions and technical insights for project advancement

•Inter-departmental collaboration to identify opportunities and solutions based on customer feedback

•Prepare proposal documentation, showcasing technical specifications and design intricacies

•Interact directly with customers, addressing inquiries, and resolving design-related challenges to ensure customer satisfaction

•Manage projects including ordering equipment, scheduling project activities and overseeing successful startup and training for our customers

•Compare and select contractors and ensure their activities are executed in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and timeline requirements

•Collaborate with vendors, discussing and evaluating parts supplied or proposed for the company's use

•Actively engage in engineering and comprehensive design reviews, contributing expertise to enhance project outcomes


Required Skills/Abilities:


•Able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents

•Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

•Effective communication and teamwork abilities

•Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems

•Refrigeration Experience is a plus but not required

•Successful candidates may have a background in food manufacturing/packaging systems, controls engineering, equipment engineering, or construction management engineering

•Must have valid state issued driver’s license and ability to rent vehicles

•25% required travel. Must have Passport or the ability to obtain one

•Extensive knowledge of production principles and techniques

•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CAD or other relevant design software


Education and Experience:


•Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field strongly preferred

•Three years or more of relevant experience required, with preference for experience as a project engineer or project manager.


Physical Requirements:

•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

•Must be able to lift 15 pounds occasionally

•Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
