Inpatient Registered Nurse

  • Earn up to $8.00 extra in addition to base pay through Clinical Advancement Program levels
  • Sign-on Bonus and Relocation Reimbursement available
  • Obtain a differential of 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, or 15% for weekend day shifts

Position Summary:

  • Provide direct nursing care to assigned inpatient patients of all age groups
  • Provide clinical leadership for other staff and assume relief charge duties as assigned
  • Serve as a positive role model to promote a quality patient care experience
  • Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
  • Participate in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops to enhance professional growth and development
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families
  • Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
  • Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
  • Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies
  • Work in collaboration with the healthcare team, implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensure proper consent has been obtained
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
  • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required
  • Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information
  • Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy
  • Participate in orientation; upon successful completion of preceptor training assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel
  • Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
  • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Qualifications

  • Program Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is non-essential
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days of employment
  • Registered Nurse license in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
  • Basic Arrhythmia Certificate w/in 1 year of employment
  • PALS certification w/in 6 months of employment
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification w/in 6 months of employment
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) w/in 6 months of employment
  • A minimum experience is not required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is non-essential
  • National certification in area of specialty, PALS, TNCC and/or ENPC is non-essential

Physical Conditions:

  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people
