We are on the lookout for a CNC Machinist to support Ascent’s production and technology teams with prototype and low volume production parts here in Wilmington MA.
This candidate will take ownership of our Hurco 5-axis CNC mill and make truly 5-axis parts based on CAD models and drawings. The candidate will be in charge of everything from CAM programing, workholding development, cutting tool selection, machine maintenance and organizing the machining cell.This candidate should be a roll-up-your-sleeves, high energy, collaborative professional. This is a full-time position based in our Wilmington, Massachusetts headquarters. Domestic and possibly international travel may be required.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create Prototype Parts: Use CAM tools to program and then create parts with Ascent’s 5-axis CNC mill to support prototyping and production.
- Maintain Prototype Workshop: Purchase equipment and tools to support and maintain a prototyping machine shop.
- Provide Manufacturing Expertise: Work with Ascent engineers to improve the manufacturability of mechanical parts.
- Create Inspection Plans and Processes: Work with Ascent’s production team to create processes to ensure the quality of vendor sourced parts.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary CNC education preferred
- 2+ year of CNC machine operation
- Experience creating CAD models using Solidworks and HSMWorks or Fusion360
- Experience designing custom workholding and determining proper feeds & speeds for a variety of cutting tools.
- Proficiency reading technical mechanical drawings; GD&T experience preferred.
- Familiar with CAD/CAM software such as Solidworks
- Sincere interest in making high quality one-off parts.
COMPENSATION
This position is expected to include a base salary between $80K and $100K.
