About

La Rosa Law, P.A. is a quickly growing virtual law firm headquartered in Miami that offers tailored legal services at the intersection of business and immigration. Our clients are often small and mid-sized business owners and families looking for effective but practical guidance without the usual trappings and bloat associated with larger law firms.

La Rosa Law is a law firm for “happy” lawyers and staff. We provide our team with maximum work-life balance and freedom, as well as tailored payment structures. If you are a reliable, high-integrity, high-energy individual with a strong work ethic and seeking a flexible work schedule and a competitive wage, you’ll be a good fit for the Associate Attorney position at La Rosa Law.

Position Summary

La Rosa Law seeks an agile and hardworking Associate ready to join its team. While they need to be ready to hit the ground running (with a decent case load), the Associate Attorney will be allowed to work any hours of the day from any location.

This position provides legal support for the firm’s business-related—both transactional and litigation—practice, among other practice areas as needed. The role involves preparing, reviewing, and producing legal deliverables that will enable the candidate to use his or her legal writing skills, conduct legal research and analysis, client intake, and client management support. The Associate Attorney will be expected to work remotely, produce weekly reports, and be available for regular phone calls. No hour minimum is imposed. At La Rosa Law, you simply make what you bill plus a little extra for successfully completed matters.

If you are a recently graduated law student with an interest in business law or immigration and a dynamic and entrepreneurial spirit, you will likely be a good fit with our culture. The ideal candidate for this role will be assertive, take initiative, work hard without constant supervision, and actively provide solutions to problems.

Responsibilities

Daily job responsibilities may include completion of the following tasks:

  • Providing support to La Rosa Law attorneys, which may include legal drafting, review, research, and analysis.
  • Be a team player willing to help with occasional administrative work (e.g., calendaring, scheduling calls and meetings, filings, drafting emails, etc.);
  • Assisting attorney in drafting and producing contracts, complaints, demand letters, opinions, other legal documents and deliverable.
  • Protecting La Rosa Law’s reputation by keeping client information confidential;
  • Assembling legal and client materials by collecting, organizing, and summarizing information, documents, reports, and evidence;
  • Keeping track of your time using the billing model that’s is standard in the legal industry, being interested in law firm invoicing and the business of law;
  • Reviewing citations in legal documents;
  • Proofreading and editing legal documents;
  • Supporting La Rosa Law marketing initiatives including client alerts, social media, etc.
  • Communicating with prospective and current clients;
  • Preparing and delivering presentations on business and/or immigration law to the community, prospective, and current clients;
  • Keeping up-to-date with legal news and new developments by participating in continuing education opportunities, reading legal publications, and maintaining personal networks.

Qualifications

The following qualification, experience, and abilities will be necessary or useful to satisfy the responsibilities of the position:

  • Member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
  • Interested in entrepreneurship and business law.
  • Experience working in a solo/small firm law firm, small business, or other entrepreneurial setting;

  • Strong legal writing, analysis, and research ability;
  • Detail oriented, prompt, professional, and available to timely complete projects;
  • Experience using legal research software, including Westlaw, Fastcase, and LexisNexis;
  • Experience utilizing internal database systems and cloud-based software (Google drive);
  • Understanding and takes responsibility for time entry and maintaining daily billing entries;
  • Experience with iCal, Gmail, Adobe, Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) or the ability to learn quickly.
  • English and Spanish fluency are required.

Are you a good fit?

At La Rosa Law, we love what we do and the culture we are working to build. But we are an acquired taste—our team is not the right fit for everyone

Good fit. This position should be right up your alley if…

  • You do not seek the structure of the traditional office.
  • You enjoy working on different types of projects (more a generalist than a specialist).
  • You can take the lead, chasing down your supervisors (who are busy and not always in the office) to ask questions you need answered, and you take ownership of ensuring the job gets done (you don’t need to be micromanaged because you can take initiative).

Not a good fit. This is not going to be the right position for you if…

  • You are looking to work in a traditional office context (you demand structure and clear-cut instructions and seek an employer who will spell everything out for you), and the volatile nature of working with a small business scares you.
  • You are shy, expect your supervisors to hold your hand and walk you through tasks step-by-step, and need significant supervision to complete projects.
  • You are not an “all hands on deck” team player (you can’t be bothered to do work that you think is “beneath” you), and,
  • You are unable or uncomfortable communicating with people (internally or externally).

Miscellaneous

Key considerations: Availability and willingness to work hours as needed to meet critical deadlines. Strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork. Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening). Sound judgment and flexibility. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple support tasks.
