In the rapidly evolving landscape of Risk and Compliance, including significant regulatory and client contractual changes regarding privacy and sovereignty of data, BCG stands at the cusp of a transformative journey. We are redefining how we approach Risk, moving from more people-based, survey-driven approaches to a more objective data, AI-driven view to accelerate priorities and support data driven risk-based decisions. We are committed to becoming referenceable for our clients, and at the forefront to advance how technologies and tools can change the way we approach corporate risk and compliance regulations in the future.
BCG has defined a bold vision, but to reach our goals will require visionary leadership. Leadership that includes skilled business and technology transformation expertise, and that can operate cross-functional teams to drive towards strategic goals and concrete objectives.
To realize our digital transformation, we need to transform our products, experiences, processes, technology and how we operate. Delivering our clients unrivalled experience of exceptional service, value and flexibility is part of our DNA.
We are looking for a Technology Leader who can translate business needs and functional digital strategy into a technology roadmap and decide "how" the technology roadmap is delivered. Delivering this, while owning the technology strategy and expertise development for this area of practice.
In the Technical Area Lead role, you will oversee key decisions, including whether, short term benefits with long term technical debt, should be pursued over longer development lead time. Additionally, you will be integral in the decision of technical tooling and carry out the establishment, refining, and regular reviews of product health metrics with a particular focus on performance. From a people-management perspective, you will oversee technical personnel, including management of technology vendors. You will develop a close working relationship with the Business Lead(s) to ensure alignment of technical resources and business priorities. You will partner with, and continuously inform, key stakeholders about the state and direction of the Global Risk digital strategy adopted by Chapter Leads, Product Owners, and other stakeholders. You will mentor the people around you and drive collaboration and knowledge sharing to benefit both your program and the broader organization.
Among your responsibilities, you will:
- In partnership with the Product Portfolio Lead, create and deliver on the Risk Portfolio's vision, digital strategy and outcomes
- Assess current business needs and integrate them into the Risk portfolio's strategy to ensure relevancy and effectiveness.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging trends and advancements in Risk and Compliance to identify potential opportunities for BCG.
- Oversee and ensure that all digital program teams and initiatives are delivering on the portfolio's ambition
- Regularly assess the portfolio's strategic approach against the Global Risk priorities and aspirations and make necessary adjustments in response to changing business landscapes and technical innovation.
- Foster collaboration between business and tech to align Risk solutions with business strategies, our AI-driven data view, and rapidly evolving regulatory landscapes.
- Share best practices for how processes are leveraged and how work is done
- Establishing technological roadmaps and guardrails while regularly reviewing them to inform "how" platforms and processes work and are leveraged within your own, and other Portfolios, in support of our vision of each portfolio being responsible for the security and compliance of their own products
- Managing technological change by staying on top of relevant technical developments and innovations in your domain (both internally and externally), and proactively analyzing the impact it will have to drive technological health
- Sharing relevant insights and developments within area of expertise with all related development, engineering, architecture, and QA teams
- Work extensively with your peers across other functional portfolios to identify and remove siloed thinking and execute opportunities to achieve scale via architectural re-use, automated data collection and insight generation, data privacy / compliance requirements, and user experience.
- Ensure adherence to firm-wide technology standards, and adapting them to suit Portfolio's needs
- Working with stakeholders across enterprise architecture, security, Data, Responsible AI, and other COEs to ensure adherence to relevant technology standards and guidelines
- Taking a long-term lens on adherence to standards and tools, consolidation of platforms/vendors, and effectively leveraging all technical assets to help the Portfolio and Risk function succeed
- Coordinate and manage people, knowledge, and resources within your Portfolio
- Supporting and mentoring an organization of deep technical experts where knowledge is shared freely
- Extensively coordinating with vendors and various other stakeholders both internally and externally, and monitor dependencies to create a cohesive tech strategy and demonstrate clear direction
- Maintaining your own technical knowledge through learning and continuous improvement
- Managing, gathering and providing feedback for, and developing Chapter Leads to further their skillset and career development
- Collaborate with business stakeholders on Product roadmaps; bringing your own perspective on 'what' is built, not just the 'how' it is built
- Ensure progress of defined tech strategy through right resourcing, planning, and personnel development
- Taking a long-term point of view on tech competency resourcing, identifying and addressing knowledge or skill gaps that exist within Portfolio(s)
- Working with relevant SMEs and Portfolio Lead to ensure the Portfolio has the relevant capacity, resources, and talent to deliver new functionality in light of large change initiatives and/or changes in demand
- Challenging the status quo, when appropriate, to accelerate progress towards strategic goals
- Enable the organization's new way of working
- Modelling behaviors to support the organization's technical transformation to a new way of working empowered by technological enablers
- Actively creating and maintaining the culture of the Portfolio(s) based on the organization and Agile leadership behaviors
- Instilling a culture of empowerment, ownership, and psychological safety to create self-motivating teams that perform at the highest levels
