The Shawnee National Forest is less than a half hour away and is a hidden gem within the state of Illinois, offering trails for hiking and biking, as well fishing, camping, horseback riding, and is home to Garden of the Gods hiking trail. Marion has good public schools and is located approximately 20 miles from Southern Illinois University. Marion offers a smalltown charm feel with urban amenities that are just a short drive away.
