We have the immediate opening for a Traffic Engineering Lead that will assist in building and leading a Traffic group within the Florida market and coordinating with the traffic engineering team throughout the company.  This position will play a vital role in expanding our presence in Florida, hiring and mentoring staff and supporting growth throughout the company.  Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to pursue and mange traffic and transportation projects primarily for public sector clients including FDOT and other state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, transit agencies, municipal clients and other public entities.  

Our Traffic Department works on high-profile and complex projects for state and local departments of transportation. Our traffic work is challenging, interesting, and in many cases, on the leading edge of traffic engineering applications in the industry. Our traffic engineers provide a wide variety of analysis, modeling, design, and planning for multimodal transportation projects. Assignments can include: traffic safety/operations studies; development or application of Synchro, SimTraffic, TransModeler, VISSIM, and VISUM models; and design of traffic control devices (traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, lighting); work zone traffic control; ITS and CAV projects. Project assignments range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchange and corridor projects, as well as innovative multimodal transportation plans.    

 

Requirements:

The successful applicant must possess the following:

  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.  Master’s Degree or other advanced degree desirable
  • P.E., registered in the state of Florida 
  • Certified PTOE
  • Excellent reputation as an engineering professional
  • Strong experience with FDOT Policies and Procedures preferred
  • Track record of developing and growing traffic groups and establishing external and internal relationships
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff of all levels 
  • Excellent communication and business development skills including developing client relations, strategic partnering, preparing proposals and presentations
  • Experience with all aspects of engineering project management including preparing scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedules 
  • Experience using traffic guidelines, such as AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual and Highway Safety Manual  
  • Experience with any of the following:
  • HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic
  • TransModeler, VISSIM, and/or VISUM
  • Design of traffic control devices (traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, lighting) and work zone traffic control  
  • ITS and CAV projects  
  • Able to travel to project sites, company offices and client meetings
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
  • Willingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company
  • Open to utilizing and developing new technologies and approaches for performing work
