As a result of growth and strong deal flow, a leading middle market investment bank is looking to identify an experienced Vice President to their Generalist M&A platform. Our client cultivates an entrepreneurial environment that rewards innovation and is targeting an individual who will have the ability and desire to develop onto the Partner track over time.


Natural ties or affinity to the State of Michigan are required.


Responsibilities


The Vice President is responsible for managing day-to-day aspects of M&A transactions and will play a key role in cultivating and developing a team of Associates and Analysts. This VP will serve in client-facing roles and in many cases will lead client contact, establish internal and external deliverable deadlines and ensure that transactions are executed on a timely basis in a quality manner. They also work closely with senior bankers to establish M&A transaction strategy and participate in deal negotiations. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:


  • Managing multiple projects and staffing assignments
  • Leveraging understanding of industry and firm services to optimize transaction
  • Taking a meaningful role in marketing M&A transactions to potential buyers and/or sellers
  • Participating in proposals and management presentations
  • Assume ownership of the confidential offering documents, including writing critical portions of the document or reviewing/editing content drafted by others
  • Performing quality review of project deliverables
  • Supporting negotiation activities
  • Serve as a mentor to junior bankers to develop appropriate skills through on-the-job training

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from a top-tier institution; MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive work experience in investment banking, private equity or related field
  • Strong quantitative foundation (e.g., financial modeling, valuation) with the ability to develop and communicate clear and concise conclusions from detailed analysis
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills to deal effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Awareness of developments in financial and business markets
  • Ability to work effectively with institutional investors, business owners and CEOs
  • Strong business writing skills, with the stylistic ability to develop effective documents
  • A leader with a team-oriented personality and proven project management acumen
  • Exceptional work ethic, attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills
