Job Title: Attorney (7-10 Years Affordable Housing Real Estate Transactions)

Our client, a prestigious boutique law firm based in Manhattan, is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Attorney with a focus on affordable housing real estate transactions. The firm specializes in real estate law and is deeply committed to affordable housing development, working on high-impact projects that contribute to the growth of vibrant communities across New York City & New Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about affordable housing and eager to make a meaningful difference.


The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of real estate experience, with a strong emphasis on affordable housing transactions. The attorney will handle complex transactions and advise clients on affordable housing finance, regulatory compliance, and public-private partnerships. This role involves leading negotiations, drafting key agreements, and managing projects from conception through completion.


What’s you'll be doing:

  • Lead and manage affordable housing transactions, including acquisitions, financings, and developments.
  • Negotiate and draft complex legal documents such as joint ventures, partnership agreements, loan agreements, and regulatory documents.
  • Provide expert legal advice on affordable housing programs, including LIHTC, HUD regulations, and zoning laws.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, private developers, and nonprofit organizations to structure and close deals.
  • Oversee junior attorneys and staff in transaction processes to ensure effective and timely legal services.
  • Advise clients on strategic legal issues related to affordable housing, offering guidance throughout the project lifecycle.


What they need:

  • JD from an accredited law school and active admission to the New York State Bar.
  • 7-10 years of experience in real estate law, with a substantial focus on affordable housing transactions.
  • Extensive experience with affordable housing finance mechanisms, such as LIHTC and HUD programs.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating real estate agreements and related documentation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple complex transactions concurrently, within a collaborative environment.
  • A demonstrated passion for affordable housing and community development is essential.
