The Machinery-Systems Inspector will represent the company by providing experienced oversight of the installation and testing activities during vessel fabrication. He/she must demonstrate a broad knowledge of marine systems and coordinate with a team of fellow subject matter experts to carry out the following fundamental duties

*Machinery Systems Inspector Responsibilities*



* Act a subject matter experts to carry out the following fundamental duties:

* Promote the company's services safety culture and adhere to all safety guidelines while conducting daily inspection activities. Make safety a priority in everything we do.

* Attend regular inspections to verify and record shipyard adherence to their internal quality processes and industry standards during fabrication, testing, commissioning, and trials.

* Validate and record that all machinery and equipment installations are compliant with the requirements of the Specification and the manufacturer’s standards and ensure that the workmanship results in a high-quality electrical system installation.

* Study relevant production drawings, standards, specifications and testing procedures in preparation for daily inspections, validate design changes, and assist with the resolution of technical issues.

* Provide expert guidance and oversight for all ship systems, including main propulsion systems, auxiliary support systems, HVAC, thrusters, deck machinery, firefighting and lifesaving systems, and more. Ensure shipyard processes for flushing, hydro-testing, start-up and commissioning align with industry best practices and manufacturer’s requirements.

* Attend Dock Trials and Sea Trials as required to support final testing and commissioning of the ship’s machinery and systems. Work closely with the shipyard and the equipment manufacturer to verify compliant operation and the delivery of fully certificated equipment.

* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including USCG, ABS, and the shipyard.

* Independently evaluate the shipbuilder’s progress against the published schedule and provide recurring status updates to the Project Manager.


*Machinery Systems Inspector Position Requirements*



* 5+ years of related experience in new construction shipbuilding.

* Proficient in marine system operations, best-practices, techniques, and the ability to read and interpret ship construction drawings.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs

* Ability to work independently and under limited supervision.
