Position Summary

The CDL Class A Truck Driver will be responsible for transporting oversized equipment to customers and job sites both locally and out-of-town. The Truck Driver should be able to perform all duties of delivering rental equipment in all weather conditions, regardless of the time of day and within the confines of the law. Prior training and/or experience with similar commercial equipment, experience driving flat-beds, RGN/lowboy, dovetail trailers, is preferred.

Responsibilities:

· Maneuver tractor and trailers into loading or unloading positions and ensure all is properly positioned

· Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations Check the truck to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order

· Report defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the tractor and/or trailer

· Secure equipment for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders or covers

· Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting heavy equipment and wide loads

· Good communication skills with dispatcher, branch manager and other drivers

· Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs

· Inspect the load before and after to determine the physical condition

· Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage

· Be able to plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions

· Load and unload trucks or help others with loading and unloading

· Observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations

· Subject to random D.O.T. drug screens and regulations

· Maintain a valid commercial driver’s license

· Obey all traffic laws

· Be prompt and courteous to the customer, co-workers and maintain a professional manner with everyone

· Any other duties as assigned



Requirements:

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills
  • Pass drug test, background, and medical check (DOT Physical)
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Daily and monthly vehicle inspections

ducation & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience
  • 1-3 years commercial driving experience

License & Certification

  • Class A CDL with acceptable driving record
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
  • AWP/Forklift Certifications
  • OSHA 10

Working Conditions:

Work is normally performed on the road/highway and on various job sites and terrains. Work is normally perform outdoors, and exposure to risk and all weather conditions is associated with this position. The ability to drive at night and in all weather conditions is required. The employee could occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles. Frequently walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions is associated with this position. Must be able to climb on and off trucks, cranes, and heavy mobile equipment safely. The employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment.

  • Prolonged periods standing, crouching, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling, repetitive wrist and hand movements, hearing and seeing (depth perception and peripheral vision)

  • Is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb on and off trucks, cranes, and heavy mobile equipment safely
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
