Piano Instructor

The New School seeks a part-time Kindergarten-12th grade Piano Instructor who will be responsible for all students interested in taking private piano lessons. This position is a hands-on job where the instructor should demonstrate methods and techniques for the class to observe and correct piano students as they attempt to imitate teachers’ instructions.

This position will plan and coordinate all aspects of a Winter & Spring Recital, where all ages will be showcased to parents, alumni, faculty, and the community. Lessons take place between 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Other duties and responsibilities:
• Monitoring student’s performance.
• Planning engaging activities.
• Making suggestions to students.
• Adapting teaching methods to meet student’s needs.
• Being able to control groups of pupils.
• Having a good sense of quality music.
• Being able to motivate others.
• Having an understanding of health and safety, especially in a school environment.
• Being patient.
• Having good communication skills.
• Having dedication and passion for music.
