The Production Manager of the Rocklin MDF Manufacturing facility is responsible for the overall production of the plant including leadership of the hourly work force, leading and developing the supervisory team, raw material consumption and yield, quality, cost of production and satisfying customer demand. The Production Manager will be involved in continuous improvement projects throughout the manufacturing group. The primary responsibilities of the role are:
  • Safety: Provide safety leadership to create a culture where safety is a core value and the team is driving for an injury-free workplace.
  • Operational Excellence: Lead a production team that is passionate about being professional and industry leading in all aspects of plant operations.
  • Leadership: Develop a production team that is inspired, motivated and organized to achieve great results over the long term.
  • Production Planning and Control: Creating and monitoring production schedules and adjusting as needed to meet production goals and forecasted demand. Ensure performance excellence across all shifts.
  • Customer Service: ensuring a consistent, quality, product supply to meet sales forecasts.
  • Lean: implementation of continuous improvement and operational best practices.
  • Collaboration: working with the cross functional team (CFT) to ensure alignment on achieving areas of shared accountability such as customer satisfaction and financial metrics.

At a high-level you will:
  • Lead, coordinate, and direct production functions of the plant by setting expectations and monitoring delegated activities.
  • Create and monitor production plans and schedules to meet production goals and forecasted demand while minimizing the cost of raw materials consumed and maximizing productivity.
  • Demonstrate leadership in implementing change to institute operational best practices and reduce process variance by driving continuous improvement through Lean activities (5S, SMED, Kaizen events, etc.)
  • Initiate improvements to remove bottlenecks, improve quality, and lower costs including employee training, capital improvements, maintenance (TPM, PM improvements), validating costing data, downtime analysis, production line modifications and the addition of new capabilities.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring that all safety and environmental procedures and regulations are followed.
  • Ensure customer service through the delivery of a consistent and high-quality product supply.
Who You Are
  • A relevant educational degree is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a production manager or superintendent in a manufacturing environment, or 8 years' of experience as a production supervisor
  • Experience in implementing and driving Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives in a manufacturing setting. Must have experience driving plant-wide projects and safety initiatives.
  • Qualifications in LEAN, Six Sigma or Theory of Constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and improve safety and plant financial performance.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business communications, policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Must be able to write reports and business correspondences and effectively present information to management and customers.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP, Excel and CMMS.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and maintain composure in a busy environment
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written

  • Ability to working well in a team and with all key stakeholders
  • Strong decision making skills
