Job Summary:

Are you a passionate Design Engineer specializing in water and wastewater projects? Lead innovative designs for treatment facilities, storage tanks, and pump stations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Lead a team of up to ten CAD Designers, ensuring high-quality outputs and adherence to project timelines.
    • Example: Oversee the design and documentation of electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Hydraulic Modeling: Create, modify, and calibrate hydraulic water and/or sewer distribution models.
    • Example: Analyze hydraulic model results and present findings to lead engineers.
  • Engineering Design: Execute complex engineering design tasks, including preliminary reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and front-end contractual documents.
    • Example: Analyze and interpret survey maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, and water quality data.
  • Documentation and Quality Assurance: Prepare comprehensive structural calculations, drawings, and design documentation adhering to industry standards and regulations.
    • Example: Ensure the quality and integrity of structural designs and calculations.
  • Project Support: Assist in the coordination of work with other engineering and environmental disciplines to develop design deliverables.
    • Example: Provide support for construction projects, including review of shop drawings and responding to RFIs.
  • Proposals and Estimates: Support the preparation of proposals, fee estimates, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements.
    • Example: Develop cost estimates for new water infrastructure projects.
  • Mentorship: Delegate tasks to junior engineers and mentor them through the quality review process.
    • Example: Provide guidance and training to junior team members on best practices.
  • Coordination: Coordinate work on multiple projects to maintain project objectives and timelines.
    • Example: Regularly communicate task status to the lead engineer or project manager.
  • Field Activities: Conduct occasional field activities to support project needs.
    • Example: Perform on-site evaluations and inspections as required.


Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with 8+ years of qualifying engineering experience in the design field.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) licensure within Maryland, or the ability to obtain it within one year of employment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Expertise in water and/or wastewater treatment engineering and design fundamentals. Competent understanding of pressure and gravity system hydraulics.
  • Skills: Strong relationship-building abilities with other teams and disciplines. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural analysis software.
