Lab Technician / Bovine Embryology – Your Job Duties

You will work on-site in a laboratory in Rochester, MN (near the airport) on projects related to bovine in-vitro fertilization (IVF). You will:

  • Aspirate slaughterhouse-derived bovine ovaries using Ovum Aspiration Needles, Syringe or Vacuum pumps, collection tubes, and dissection tools
  • Search and collect oocytes under microscope
  • Prepare media for culturing bovine oocytes
  • Package and transport bovine ovaries and oocytes to and from locations in and around Rochester, MN and also a supplier located in Lime Springs, IA
  • Enter data with accuracy in timely manner

Lab Technician / Bovine Embryology - You Have (Required)

  • Experience working in a lab in a classroom setting
  • Valid MN Driver's license and access to a vehicle for transporting small packages to and from locations near the Rochester airport, with occasional trips to a Lime Springs, IA supplier (Mileage is reimbursed)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime

Lab Technician / Bovine Embryology – You Might Have (Desired, Not Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in biological or animal-related field
  • Experience working in an IVF laboratory

Your regular working schedule will typically be Monday – Friday, 12pm start, ending your day around 8pm (7.5 or 8 hour work day).

At times, your schedule may be less than an 8 hour work day or a 4 day work week (depending on supplier shipments).

Your work schedule will be communicated to you with as much advance notice as possible.

Your compensation will be $20.00 - $22.00/hour, and you are eligible for overtime for all hours worked over 40 hours per week.

In addition, you will be provided with 3 days of sick time, provided up front.
