RN – Adult Med/Surg

Job Responsibilities:

  • Exercises professional skills related to the plan of care; reassesses patients as needed and appropriately revises plan of care; correctly administers prescribed treatments; correctly uses equipment necessary for patient care; provides emotional support to patient and significant other; applies scientific principles in performing procedures; carries them out safely, timely and efficiently; makes accurate observations of patient’s conditions during treatments/procedures; reports and records same as appropriate; Keeps accurate documentation of patient’s treatment, activity and condition, as well as patient’s responses to medical and nursing interventions; uses appropriate methods of documentation according to departmental policy; acts rapidly and effectively during any emergency situation, managing self, patients and other employees; provides a calm, quiet, restful atmosphere; communicates effectively with the patient’s family or caretakers; participates in planning for discharge and coordinates referrals, as appropriate; provides discharge instructions to patient and significant other; evaluates care provided for patient outcome.
  • The Registered Nurse initiates and documents discharge and transfer planning; facilitates "Patient Centered" communication and care.
  • The Registered Nurse assumes patient care responsibilities by organizing workload effectively and remaining flexible to environmental changes.
  • The Registered Nurse communicates professionally and effectively with patients, families, co-workers, healthcare team members and ancillary departments to ensure "Patient-Centered" coordination of care.
  • The Registered Nurse ensures plan of care is consistent with nursing standards and hospital policy and procedures.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities to evaluate and improve patient care.
  • Promotes an environment that encourages individual growth and heightens professional practice.

Qualifications:

  • Currently registered with the State Board of Nursing
  • Current or past clinical experience preferred in acute Med/Surg/Peds Nursing with abilities to care for adult or geriatric patients with total joint/orthopaedic, general medical and general surgical conditions.
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage multiple priorities, organize the work load; includes critical thinking, delegation skills and respectful communication.
  • Experience in assessing the individual needs of the adult/geriatric or pediatric patients and developing appropriate written plans of care.
  • Current BLS Certification or able to complete within one month
  • Current ACLS Certification or able to complete within six months and maintain certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Client’s policies, vision, mission and values.
  • Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
