Since 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness. We believe that homelessness is an issue that can be solved through access to quality health care, adequate and affordable housing, and a living wage.


Do you have a passion for public health?  We do, and we are looking for a energetic physician to join our team Our ideal candidate will be adept in chronic disease management and substance use disorder treatment. We maintain an integrated, inter-departmental treatment model and the ideal candidate will be a strong team player able to work with diverse groups of people and disciplines. We believe that there are many pieces to a person's well-being and we need a candidate who embraces a holistic approach to patient care.


The candidate would need to be comfortable in a clinic setting and would also provide patient care as part of our street medicine team in outreach settings. Our ideal candidate would have working knowledge of harm reduction and trauma-informed care philosophies and would be able to embody these ideas with clients.  Compassion for and an understanding of the wide variety of issues for those experiencing homelessness is a must. We have walk in hours as well as scheduled appointment times for clients. Our team is very passionate about our population. If you would like to join a dynamic team, we invite you to apply  


Minimum Qualifications:


  • New Mexico license as MD or DO
  • Current DEA and CSR for New Mexico
  • 1 year of experience in a family practice or primary care setting.


Preferred Qualifications: 


  • Experience in public health or primary care with under-served populations or those experiencing homelessness
  • Able to use harm reduction and trauma informed care methodology
  • Experience in an FQHC
  • Board certified in Family Practice or Internal Medicine
  • Spanish speaking
