Job Title: Purchasing ManagerDepartment: Administration Reports To: Director of Mfg. Finance **SUMMARY**
The role involves directing and coordinating the procurement activities for raw materials, packaging, equipment, services, machine parts, supplies, stockroom inventory, and on-site label printing. This is done in compliance with Corporate policy, either personally or through subordinates.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Purchase capital equipment and manage installation projects.
- Educate and train buyers to enhance their purchasing skills.
- Oversee and manage the daily activities of Capital Equipment MRO buyers.
- Supervise the daily operations of the Purchasing Department.
- Review and approve supplier lists for material, capital, and MRO purchase orders.
- Coordinate capital purchases with department managers, write CERs, and obtain senior management approval.
- Handle the purchase, shipment, and installation of capital equipment, including warranty issues.
- Assign buyers to process requisitions and manage their workflow.
- Negotiate and manage the disposal of obsolete capital equipment.
- Maintain consignment records for obsolete equipment and conduct quarterly audits.
- Negotiate and arrange packaging for new products.
**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage Buyers and Administrative Assistants in the Purchasing Department.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving issues, in accordance with company policies and laws.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) or at least ten years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**LANGUAGE SKILLS**
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from vendors, regulatory agencies, or the business community.
- Effective communication skills for presenting information to top management, vendors, and employee groups.
**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**
- Proficiency with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
**COMPUTER SKILLS**
- Proficiency with Internet software, manufacturing software, order processing systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
- Knowledge of Oracle software is a plus.
**REASONING ABILITY**
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables where limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**
- Professional Membership in the American Purchasing Society is a plus.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
- The role primarily involves sitting, talking, and hearing. Occasionally, standing, walking, handling objects, reaching, and tasting or smelling are required.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
- The work environment is generally quiet but may involve occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
