Responsibilities

 

Provides quality clinical care to patients 18+ years. Participates in the on-call responsibilities of Harnett Health Physician Offices.

 

Education Requirements

 

Graduate of an approved school of medicine. Completion of internship and residency in area of specialty (Internal Medicine). Licensed to practice as a medical physician in the state of North Carolina. Board Certified or currently in the certification process by the American Board of Family Medicine

 

Minimum Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements


Completion of an appropriate residency and training program.

 

Physician Specific Tasks:

  • Ensure the physician/ancillary providers provide professional services in a manner consistent with quality and accepted community standards
  • May serve as the medical officer for any CLIA certificates and ensures such certificates are maintained in a manner consistent with regulatory requirements.
  • Works with Practice Manager to ensure appropriate policies and processes are in place to ensure safe and efficient provision of the office based medical services
  • Works with HHS Administration to determine the appropriate number and mix of professionals necessary to operate the office in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Provides appropriate preventative and health maintenance care to patients.
  • Works with HHS to recruit and retain the appropriate number and mix of professional providers that will achieve stability and enhance growth of the practice and primary care network.
  • Works with HHS Administration to handle onsite professional provider disputes related to patient care issues.

 

Job Specific Tasks:

  • Diagnoses illness, prescribes and administers treatment for patients suffering from injury or disease.
  • Examines patients, obtains medical histories, writes order, and or performs and interprets diagnostic tests.
  • Records data in the patient's record; writes progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
  • Treats common illnesses—minor injuries, infectious diseases, and immunizations
  • Provides appropriate preventative and health maintenance care to patients.
  • Perform appropriate procedures in office in accordance with privileges
  • Ensures appropriate coding and corporate compliance. The physician may be responsible for some general administrative responsibilities.

  • In collaboration with clinical staff, participates in the monitoring, reporting, and improvement activities related to clinical guidelines, health care quality and safety initiatives, accreditation and regulatory requirements.

  • Documents in Medical Records in an appropriate and timely manner. Assists with Coding properly for clinical work. Takes into account the need to generate revenue through clinical activities in balance with other activities.
  • Operates within approved budget guidelines.

 

Supports organizational market growth and development initiatives.

 

  • Provides feedback regarding new service lines, based on individual expertise and/or research.
  • Participates in community, organizational and professional organizations.

 

Creates an environment which enables and celebrates workforce excellence.

 

  • Provides guidance for personnel in clinical areas in conjunction with clinical/administrative directors/managers.
