The Role

The Junior Retoucher will perform retouching of flat and on-model jewelry photography including color correction and clipping. The Junior Retoucher will take direction of the Digital Asset Manager to organize image files as needed and ensure images are appropriately saved and filed.

Responsibilities:

Retouching

• Retouches jewelry image assets ranging from ecommerce product shots.
• Enhances images by color correcting and color matching using newest techniques of photo manipulation.
• Crops, resizes images and places on templates according to style guidelines.
• Performs clipping and masking techniques to separate the jewelry from background with extreme accuracy.
• Prepares and delivers web or print ready assets within Photoshop using current standards for web and print production.
• Partners with Retoucher & Digital Asset Manager and Graphic Design team to maintain Midas’ brand aesthetic and imagery standards.
• Responds quickly to urgent retouching and production requests.

Digital Asset Management

• Organizes and renames image files properly by uploading, downloading and transferring into a variety of internal servers, Dropbox, our website, and more.
• Generates URL links via Cloudinary, Imagur and Dropbox to place in excel spreadsheet.
• Assists in the maintenance of image library and filing system with standardized file names, structure, and key words.
• Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in photography, Fine Arts or related field
• Minimum 1-2 years of prior experience in Fashion/Jewelry retouching across digital and print mediums
• Expert knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe Bridge.  Portfolio must demonstrate this skill.
• Expert ability to retouch across a variety of photography styles, varied by lighting, color, and background extensions.
• A creative and discerning eye in cropping, resizing, color-correcting images and balancing backgrounds is essential.
