Your Opportunity + Impact
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager develops, coordinates, and oversees all safety and loss control functions of the organization. This position is responsible for creating and implementing programs, policies, training programs, and procedures to reduce near misses, incidents, accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. The Environmental Health & Safety Manager will offer or provide safety-training for all employees to include supervisory training, first-aid care, emergency preparedness, proper job instructions, and physical protection. This position is also responsible for new employee safety orientation, physical protection assessments, planned job observations, creating and reviewing job analysis/procedures, conducting project safety audits, and evaluating and implementing proper disposal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops, administers, and manages organization safety policies, programs, and training for the company.
- Stays up-to-date on new developments in occupational health and safety including updated laws, regulations, and practices.
- Responsible for development and management of company’s fleet management program.
- Identifies and mitigates potential safety-related risks to the business and provides support to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Creates a positive environment for proper Health and Safety compliance by seeking to establish and maintain an open, transparent, and positive safety culture.
- Develops audit process and provides technical support to ensure risk reduction and code/regulation compliance.
- Conducts root cause analysis and incident investigations as needed.
- Participates in the selection of and manages vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Conducts new hire safety orientation.
- Routinely visits job sites to ensure proper safety procedures are being followed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Safety Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant industry certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA and other relevant regulatory agencies and regulations. Knowledge of behavioral-based safety principles and practices, accident prevention, safety equipment and Health & Safety Risk Management loss prevention methods preferred.
