The Grants Manager is responsible for efficiently administering grants within the Victims Services Department. Reporting to Victims Services Director, this role involves managing the entire grants lifecycle, from identification and application to reporting and compliance. Acting as a liaison between the agency and funders, the Grants Manager researches, prepares, submits, and manages grant proposals and reports aligned with agency goals and funder guidelines. Maintaining relationships with funders, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and supporting special projects are also core responsibilities. Strong writing, data analysis, budgeting, and project management skills are essential for success, with a focus on outcome measurement.

Requirements:

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the grant proposal development and submission process, including researching funding opportunities and maintaining relationships with funders.
  • Draft proposals, letters of intent, grant application narratives, and budgets in collaboration with program staff, finance, and executive leadership.
  • Maintain grant application processes, including online portal submissions and password management.
  • Coordinate meetings with funders and agency staff to explore funding opportunities and fulfill site visit requirements.
  • Manage master calendar of grants and prospects, along with associated files and correspondence.
  • Execute thank-you letters and facilitate grant contracts/agreements.
  • Ensure acknowledgment of funders via website, e-newsletter, and social media.
  • Maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurement and budget monitoring.
  • Research statistics, trends, and data for grant proposals and community advocacy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of economics and accounting principles and practices, including financial management and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of complex problem-solving techniques, especially in the context of managing grants and funding allocations.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, as clear and effective communication is essential for grant writing and reporting.
  • Knowledge in navigating sensitive issues related to victim services and funding allocation, as well as engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, legal codes, court procedures, and government regulations is crucial for ensuring compliance with funding requirements, navigating legal complexities, and advocating for policy changes to support victims of crime.
  • Identifying complex problems related to victim services funding and developing effective solutions.
  • Allocating grant funds efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of victim services programs.
  • Motivating staff to ensure grant-funded projects are completed successfully.
  • Efficiently managing deadlines for grant applications, reporting, and program implementation.
  • Communicating grant proposals, reports, and other documents clearly and persuasively.
  • Applying general rules and regulations to specific grant-related issues and decisions.
  • Developing creative solutions to funding challenges and programmatic needs.
  • Recognizing potential issues or challenges in grant-funded programs and taking proactive steps to address them.
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders, including funders, community partners, and victims of crime.
  • Maintaining focus and attention to detail when reviewing grant applications, budgets, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in grant management, including grant writing, administration, and compliance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on grant proposals, reports, and correspondence.
  • Capacity to move around the office environment to attend meetings, collaborate with colleagues, and access resources.
  • Capability to lift and carry light objects such as files, folders, and office supplies.
  • Adequate vision and dexterity to operate computers, printers, and other office equipment.
  • Stamina to work effectively during regular office hours to meet deadlines and complete tasks efficiently.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Successful completion of applicable tribal drug test.
  • Successful completion of applicable tribal background check.
  • Must pass background investigation for suitability of character identified in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations.
