Job DescriptionJob Description

Busy law firm looking for a legal assistant with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Experience preferred in personal injury case management and trial preparation; scheduling of appointments and court dates with experts, court staff, and court reporters; e-filing in all courts including state and federal. Must have excellent skills in writing, communication, document management, legal research, and interpersonal skills. Must be fastidious, energetic, assertive, and detail-oriented. Must have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently. The position is in the office full-time Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour for lunch.

Compensation:

$50,000

Responsibilities:
  • Use daily time records to properly process client billing with support from the accounting department
  • Arrange travel, schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, and coordinate with outside vendors for events
  • Conduct legal research, when necessary, with guidance from attorneys and paralegals
  • Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested
  • Take care of administrative tasks and office correspondence by answering phone calls and emails, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and informing the team of upcoming deadlines
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to type at least 50 WPM
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with quick turnaround times
  • Candidates should have strong organizational skills and communication skills
  • Experience with legal software, litigation case management, and docketing programs
  • Ability to comfortably use all Microsoft Office products
