Position: Engineering/Cryogenics Technician

STI-Federal is seeking a qualified Engineering/Cryogenics Technician to join our team. This individual will support a contract in the Atlanta area maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and inspecting the liquid Nitrogen equipment and supply infrastructure for the laboratories. For this role we are looking for someone who is experienced in working with Cryogenics, has an in-depth knowledge of the industrial gas and cryogenics world and has developed an innate understanding of what is happening inside a pipe or tank.


This position is contingent upon contract award.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and maintenance of all cryogenic and liquid nitrogen systems for proper operation.
  • Repair, install, replace, and provide services for various systems and equipment to include.
  • Providing time and material cost estimates before the start of a job.
  • Investigate and provide technical solutions to problems or questions/concerns received
  • Write reports, safety regulations, and preventative maintenance plans.
  • Develop plans for periodic review of assets activity (e.g., in use, idle, at calibration, needs repair/upgrade, awaiting final disposition, etc.) across multiple labs.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracy.
  • Collaborates with team members and customers both internal and external
  • Comply with all requirements for laboratory safety and security
  • Assist or perform other tasks as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in troubleshooting and operating cryogenic equipment (e.g. bulk tanks, electric pressure builders, valves, pumps, etc.)
  • Experience working with process piping.


Education & Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or equivalent education. With at least 2-4 years of prior experience.
  • May require on-call coverage for emergency notifications.


Working Conditions:

  • Work environment involves possible exposure to hazardous materials, such as chemicals, blood and blood borne pathogens.
  • Candidate may be required to travel between various campus locations.
  • Candidate will be required to work an on-call schedule and should live within 1 hour travel distance to location to respond to emergent situations.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times and be able to bend, lift and pull with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This position requires extended periods of being on your feet and prolonged work sitting at a desk operating a computer with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
  • At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.
