Firearms OTR Driver
Rock Island Auction Company (RIAC), the #1 firearms auction house in the world, is searching for professional and reliable part-time Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver. NO CDL REQUIRED With passion and knowledge for guns (and safety), the OTR Driver maximizes earning potential for special bonuses by traveling across the country with assigned co-driver to transport guns and historic auction items while hearing stories first-hand and experiencing adventure.

Part-time OTR driver travels across the country (with assigned co-driver) to pick up auction items and deliver safely back to RIAC.

What does a typical day for the RIAC driver look like?

While there is typically no mundane and monotonous work, OTR driver can expect the following: 

  • Traveling between RIAC facilities and client locations for pickup and delivery; and
  • Handling and ensuring safe loading and unloading of collectible firearms and bladed weapons in addition to other military and historic collectibles.

How many OTR days can the RIAC driver expect?

Part-time OTR driver completes one (1) long trip per month with an average of 8-10 consecutive days, but actual length of trip may vary.

Qualified candidates meet the following requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Ability to obtain Illinois Class C driver’s license (Class C for Iowa Resident), or equivalent;
  • Ability to pass DOT physical; 
  • Favorable driving record without DUI conviction(s) within the past seven (7) years; and
  • Ability to obtain and maintain active FOID card status (Illinois residents only).

Requirements such as Class C Illinois driver’s license, DOT physical, and FOID card are paid by the company.

Physical Requirements
Constant sedentary work for prolonged periods up to 100% of the time while operating motorized vehicle. Constant traversing, moving, and transporting for prolonged periods up to 100% of the time with frequent ascending, descending, or positioning self to maintain traversing, moving, or transporting auction items up to 50 lbs. Must be able to constantly communicate and exchange accurate information. Must be able to detect, identify, inspect, observe, perceive, and assess transportation and safety duties, tasks, processes, procedures, and projects. Constantly operates motorized vehicle. Frequently operates and uses mobile devices, computer, and other relevant equipment and office machinery. Constantly works around firearms, bladed weaponry, historic relics, and valuable collectibles.
