What will you do as a PMC Infusion Coordinator:

As a PMC Infusion Coordinator you will serve as an essential part of the patient’s experience acting as a liaison between patients and medical support staff by greeting, instructing, and directing patients to the infusion clinic. The coordinator is responsible for entering all patient demographics, insurance information, scheduling an appointment. They are responsible for working on precertification, patient applications, inventory counts and drug logs. Such appointments may be made by telephone or in-house.

A day in the life of a PMC Infusion Coordinator may include:

  • Greeting our patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner; answering requests for information

• Signs in patients, verifies and updates necessary information, then acknowledges patient and completes necessary practice management system work.

• Insures HIPAA, Financial Policy, Insurance Information, Release of Information, and Notice of Privacy Practices is completed by the patient

• Advises patients regarding certain financial obligations including but not limited to co-payments, deductible amounts and insurance eligibility, etc. with regard to infusion costs.

• Performs the necessary insurance eligibility requirements with regard to insurance coverage.

• Reviews patient chart to ensure all necessary labs have been completed (TB, Hep, etc.)

• Completes plan specific denial criteria, and obtains clinicians signatures, print past notes, medication lists, imaging, to confirm disease process, failed therapies, for review in the pre- certification process.

• Coordinates drug acquisition/delivery/storage with patient and specialty pharmacy.

• Coordinates approval/denial of drug with prescribing providers through communication within the practice’s electronic health record.

• Maintains electronic medical record documentation of the process to obtain infusion medication, as well as notifying the patient of any needed lab work and documentation needed by the specialty pharmacy.

• Works on carrier specific authorization reports, regularly monitoring status for patient approval of drug administration.

• Maintains a thorough knowledge of physicians, their specialties and medical practices.

• Maintains patient and practice confidentiality.

• Maintains professional demeanor at all times with patients, caregivers, physicians and coworkers.

• Maintains and coordinates the physicians’ schedules, having a thorough knowledge of physician specialties and medical practices.

• Answers telephones and returns calls in a timely manner, taking messages, handling requests and providing accurate information as necessary.

• Handles mail, paperwork via fax, and medical records, assuring accuracy and completeness.

• Screens patients and visitors as needed.

• Assures patients are processed in a timely, courteous, and helpful manner.

• Collects patient co-pays, balances and fees as needed and preparing a daily

  • Being a key piece in the PMC mission by providing the highest quality of care to our patients and the communities we serve.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to two-year experience in a medical office setting.


Shift: Day Shift (Monday through Friday) no weekends or holidays
Pay Type: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
