General Definition of Work
Performs skilled and safe operation of van transporting clients to various locations for work, medical and personal business and other related work as apparent or assigned. Duties are performed within specific guidelines under the supervision of the Transit Manager.

Essential Functions
Drives transit van, safely transporting Coweta Transit clients
Assists clients as needed in entering and exiting the van
Responsible for the safety of clients while riding in transit van
Documents client information and collects fares
Balances daily cash receipts and submits to Transit Manager
Documents any type of accident or altercation on or involving a transit van and communicates situation to Transit Manager
Performs daily pre-trip vehicle safety inspection and communicates any maintenance issues to Transit Manager
Records mileage daily to insure accurate information for maintenance
Fuels vehicle according to departmental guidelines
Cleans vehicle interior at the end of each day, including sweeping, cleaning window interiors and wiping down seats, etc.; schedules exterior cleaning as necessary
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the county geography, roads and facilities; knowledge of program guidelines and procedures; knowledge of vehicle operation procedures; ability to use various types of scheduling and routing software and applications; skill and ability to read maps and understand directions; skill and ability to operate vehicle in range of situations, including heavy traffic and inclement weather; ability to exercise sound judgment and proper authority over van and program participants; ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a high school level; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with transit clients, local human service organizations, other departments, County officials and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires driving, sitting, speaking, hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires standing, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic) occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
Special Requirements
Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State and Federal records.
Possession of a valid State of Georgia driver's license with favorable driving history (MVR)
Successfully complete Defensive Driving Training; Passenger Assistance, Safety, and Sensitivity (PASS) Training; and GDOT Drug & Alcohol Training which will be provided upon hire.
