Position Summary:

This role is critical in maintaining the flow and transportation of galvanized steel between our Production Lot and Laydown Yard, approximately 500 feet apart.

Initially, employment will begin through a temporary agency for a period of 60-90 days. Upon successful completion of this tenure, Seattle Galvanizing will transition the individual into a permanent role, accompanied by a pay increase.



Responsibilities:

  • Operate and drive a semi-truck in a safe and professional manner to transport raw and finished galvanized materials between different site locations.
  • Utilize a forklift for efficient transportation of steel, ensuring secure loading and unloading of parts from the truck.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of all operational equipment to ensure functionality and safety compliance.
  • Securely fasten loads to prevent shifting and damage during transport, adhering to all safety regulations.
  • Prepare, package, and label loads appropriately for transport and delivery.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with customers, shop personnel, and team members to facilitate effective operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in inventory management and conduct periodic checks to ensure accuracy and availability of required materials.
  • Coordinate with production and logistics teams to optimize transport schedules and minimize delays.
  • Adhere to and enforce all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations during transport and operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions to the appropriate department for immediate resolution.


Qualifications:

  • Mandatory possession of a (CDL) Class A Endorsement on driver’s license with a 5-year clean driving record.
  • Preferred one year of experience in commercial driving, including operation of semi-trucks, flatbeds, and trailers.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in operating a forklift, with prior certification highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.


Shift: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM

Job Type: Full-time
