The Scope Tech/CNA is responsible for assisting medical providers using endoscopes to diagnose or treat patients with gastrointestinal problems. Scope Tech/CNA will prepare the room and all equipment for appropriate procedures, will provide support to the physician and CRNA/Anesthesia provider while the procedure is underway, handle specimens collected during the procedure, sterilize the equipment post procedure and prepare the room and equipment for the next patient. They are responsible for assisting in pre and post sedation care to patients, escorting patients to and from procedure rooms, assisting the patient with discharge, including helping the patient to transportation when required and are responsible for maintaining inventory on all medical supplies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed during procedures.
- Assemble sterilized or disinfected instruments and recheck all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly check power equipment.
- Assists in preparing and moving patients and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms for next procedure.
- Handle specimens collected during procedures and deliver to the laboratory, exercising extreme attention to detail in labeling.
- Assist in central processing area as required, including escorting patients to GI Lab unit, assisting patients into proper attire, and assisting with pre and post-operative care to include vitals, and pre and post-operative instructions.
- Package clean supplies and instruments, maintain records for all instruments and transport items to the floor.
- Communicate equipment and inventory status to appropriate personnel, including order status, back orders and/or changes.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS certification required
- Valid CNA in Wyoming required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical environment
- 1 year of experience as a surgical technician preferred
- 1 year of Endoscopy experience preferred
