Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for large or complex projects involving mechanical, civil, and structural components. This position requires a strong understanding of safety rules and regulations, as well as the ability to determine material and labor requirements based on project specifications and requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations, both in the office and on-site. Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols throughout the estimation process.
  2. Estimate Development: Develop estimates for large or complex projects, including mechanical, civil, and structural components. Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope of work and requirements.
  3. Material and Labor Requirements: Determine material and labor requirements for estimates based on project specifications, drawings, and bill of materials. Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather pricing and availability information.
  4. Request for Quote (RFQ) Review: Review request for quote (RFQ) packages daily to identify opportunities for bidding on projects. Evaluate project requirements, risks, and constraints to develop competitive and accurate estimates.
  5. Cost Analysis: Analyze costs associated with materials, labor, equipment, and overhead to develop cost-effective estimates. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions to enhance competitiveness.
  6. Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit bids, proposals, and estimates in response to RFQs and other inquiries. Ensure that bids are complete, accurate, and submitted on time to meet deadlines.
  7. Client Interaction: Interact with clients, architects, engineers, and project managers to clarify project requirements, address questions or concerns, and negotiate pricing and terms as needed.
  8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and related documentation. Track and report on bid activity, win/loss ratios, and other key performance indicators.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical estimating or related field, with a strong understanding of mechanical, civil, and structural components.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations related to construction projects.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting project plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to perform cost analysis and develop accurate estimates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office suite.
