Position Overview:

As a Junior Estimator, you will support the estimating team by analyzing project plans, preparing cost estimates, and assisting in bid preparation. This entry-level position is perfect for recent graduates or those with up to five years of experience who are eager to start their career in estimating within the heavy construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely cost estimates for heavy construction projects.
  • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Gather and analyze data on labor, materials, and equipment costs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure estimates are comprehensive and realistic.
  • Prepare and maintain cost databases and historical data.
  • Support the preparation of bid proposals and presentations.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 0-5 years of experience in estimating or a related role within the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and estimating software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with heavy construction practices and terminology.
  • Knowledge of construction cost databases and software.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles.
