Equine Veterinary Assistant

Thomasville Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time/part-time employee to assist our equine veterinarians in the barn and perform daily barn duties. This position is responsible for the care of hospitalized horses, cleaning stalls, and paddocks, and keeping the barn to our hospital standards. The position will assist our equine veterinarians by holding horses for procedures, helping take x-rays, as well as jogging horses for lameness exams. Depending on your experience, you will also assist with bandaging, administering treatments, oral medications, blood draws, and injections. We are looking for applicants with exceptional character and a great work ethic. There may be opportunities to assist equine veterinarians on farm calls as well.

This position may occasionally require some weekend hours.

Requirements

• Equine experience
• Must be comfortable & quiet around horses.
• Physical: Lifting up to 50 lbs (feed & Hay), jogging horses in hand, squatting, (assist with x-rays & treatment), bending, reaching, etc.
• Must work well with others
• Reliability
• handle outside conditions
